Homemade Laundry Detergent
Ok, you will not believe what I just got done doing! Yup, making my own Laundry Detergent! No, the YouTube video is not me and my experience. My camera is not working right so I couldn't record my experience. The next time I make it I will record it!
I wanted to check it out before I made a full batch so I made a half batch.
This is what I did:
1. Grate the bar of soap into a big pot, add 6 cups of water to that and turn the burner on Med-High heat.
2. After the soap is melted, add 3/4 cup of Borax and 3/4 cup of Harm and Hammer Washing soda. Stir that until it is dissolved.
3. Put 6 cups of hot water in the 5 gallon bucket and add the soap mixture.
4. Add 1 gallon, 6 cups of water (I used cold). Stir all of that together!
5. Let sit for 24 hours and it will be a gel consistency!
I am waiting my 24 hours now! I can't wait until it gets "gelly"!!
The video is from Christian Homekeeping!

I made my soap and was able to use it yesterday. I really love it and it was super cheap and easy! My dad suggested getting a paint mixer that you put on the end of a drill from 5 gallon paint buckets to mix the soap up. I am trying that next time since it was a little messier to mix then I thought it was going to be.
